The National Tribal Environmental Council (NTEC) was formed in 1991 by seven tribes and intertribal organizations to aid tribes in the protection and preservation of the environment on their lands. The NTEC is a member organization; however it exists to assist any federally recognized tribe in the country.
With regards to air quality, the NTEC air program has provided policy and technical assistance on several initiatives, including the National Tribal Air Association, National Designation and Implementation Workgroup, Carbon Sequestration, and the Western Regional Air Partnership.
