Minimize impacts from smoldering smoke

Observe smoke and plume behavior downwind to mitigate possible impacts
Complete burn as soon as possible in the afternoon to avoid trapping smoke during nighttime inversions
If residual smoke occurs and is being trapped near the ground, notify local law enforcement authorities, the Department of Transportation and patrol-sign major roads near the burn
Conduct post-burn mop-up
